"Amata," the film directed by Elisa Amoruso, tells the story of Nunzia, a young university student living away from home who faces an unwanted and secret pregnancy alone. After giving birth, out of fear of not being ready to be a mother, she decides to leave the newborn, Margherita, in the care of the hospital. She has ten days to reconsider, days in limbo where her youth and future clash with the weight of an irreversible choice. On the other side are Maddalena and Luca, a couple who have endured years of unsuccessful attempts to become parents. She is now over forty, and he supports her with love and determination.

When the opportunity for adoption finally arises, hope is rekindled. For them, too, those ten days become a countdown filled with emotion and uncertainty. Margherita is the fragile thread that connects these two stories, a child suspended between two worlds, between those who brought her into the world and those who dream of welcoming her.

A delicate and profound story about the meaning of motherhood, choice, connection, and love in all its forms.
