Roma City Ballet Company - Il lago dei cigni

*Swan Lake*, the most famous and widely performed ballet in the world, returns to the stage in a production that combines the great classical tradition with a contemporary visual language. Set to the immortal music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the story of Odette and Prince Siegfried regains all its poetic power: love, deception, destiny, and the struggle between good and evil intertwine in a timeless tale that continues to speak to today’s audiences.

This new production is directed and choreographed by Luciano Cannito, who draws inspiration from Marius Petipa’s historic version. At its heart remains the dancers’ technical and interpretive power, embodied in the contrast between the purity of the White Swan and the darkness of the Black Swan—an enduring symbol of the conflict between light and shadow and the centerpiece of one of the most celebrated grand pas de deux in ballet history.

The production’s major innovation is the integration of artificial intelligence into the stage design. Not merely as a decorative effect, but as a dramaturgical and visual tool capable of expanding Prince Siegfried’s imaginative universe: the castle, the forest, and the lake come to life through virtual scenery that transforms emotions, visions, and inner landscapes into images.

Produced by Fabrizio Di Fiore Entertainment for the Roma City Ballet Company, with the participation of international étoile dancers, the production preserves the elegance of classical ballet while enriching it with a new scenic dimension suspended between dream and reality. Technology does not replace dance; it enhances it, making the humanity of the bodies, the power of the gesture, and the modernity of a masterpiece that continues to renew itself even more apparent.
