On Saturday, May 23, 2026, on the occasion of the cultural journey of Via Dante Art District, the Alberto Peruzzo Foundation presents a series of initiatives dedicated to contemporary art for this year's edition, titled Metamorphosis. Throughout the day, the terrace of Spazio Sant’Agnese will exceptionally be accessible to the public, with visits by reservation.
Now in its second edition, the OPEN ART EVENT organized by Via Dante Art District has seen the participation of the Alberto Peruzzo Foundation as one of its promoters since its inception. The foundation is a nonprofit institution founded in 2015 by its President, Alberto Peruzzo, dedicated to promoting contemporary art while paying attention to the enhancement of the local artistic and historical heritage. Once a year, Via Dante Art District transforms the street and its surroundings into a salon of art through a rich program of widespread exhibitions, site-specific interventions, music, meetings, and moments dedicated to the active participation of the public, such as workshops and educational labs, and extraordinary openings of artists' studios and creative spaces, all accompanied by food & beverage proposals. In total, this year, more than ten locations are involved in the initiative, which will host artistic interventions and contribute to reshaping the urban fabric of the area.
In this context, the program of the Alberto Peruzzo Foundation begins with the exhibition initiative "Warhol on Vinyl" – featuring works from the collection of Gloria Favero and Marino Cagnotto – at Dante61 Bookshop in Padua, which was established a year ago as part of the project's expansion of the foundation's spaces. More than just a bookshop, it is a place dedicated to visual cultures and new publishing practices, where the foundation's publications engage in dialogue with those of Italian and international publishers. A space that explores the boundary between book and artwork, shaping a narrative of images and a deeply interdisciplinary approach.
Here, from May 23 to 30 – through more than sixty works by Andy Warhol and a selection of covers by great artists – the public can retrace the evolution of the vinyl cover, which reflects the dialogue between visual arts and music and the transformation of vinyl into an independent cultural object.
The journey also finds expression at Sant’Agnese, an exhibition space opened in March 2023, where the exhibition programming develops in continuity with the foundation's collection and in relation to artists and institutions. In this evocative place – in addition to access to the terrace, which will offer a unique perspective on the surrounding architectural and urban context – visitors will have the opportunity to admire a selection of works from the foundation's collection, including a new acquisition presented to the public for the first time: "Copper Square Four" (2008) by Carl Andre. The work, emblematic of his approach to minimalism, is structured as a square grid composed of copper modules. Through a serial logic and the use of industrial materials, Andre reduces sculpture to its essence, transforming it into a physical presence that directly interacts with the space and the gaze of the viewer.
In line with the theme of metamorphosis proposed by the Via Dante Art District for the day, the foundation complements the setup with the LOOP video art showcase – accompanied for the occasion by the presence of the design brand Koesia in the foundation's spaces – featuring videos by G. Ozzola, C. Gaillard, Fischli & Weiss, G. Giaretta, M. Manzoni, G. Caravaggio, and S. Cagol. Transformation is one of the fundamental conditions of contemporary image, and in the videos of this showcase, metamorphosis is not only a theme but also an operational principle concerning matter, time, perception, and gaze. In a famous video by the Swiss duo Fischli & Weiss, for example, transformation takes the form of play and causality: everyday objects trigger chains of events that transform the mundane into a small cosmic system. In Giovanni Ozzola's "Garage," metamorphosis is the passage from darkness to light, from presence to fade, while in the work presented by Gianni Caravaggio, transformation pertains to matter. Marco Manzoni's short film, "Solipsiae" (2024), produced entirely on paper and co-produced by the Alberto Peruzzo Foundation, reflects on the idea of bodily transmutation, which continues to transform even after death, decomposition, and resurrection to create new life.
