Concerti dedicati a Beethoven dal Quartetto d’archi del Teatro alla Scala.
Classical music
Concerts dedicated to Beethoven by the Teatro alla Scala String Quartet.
Sixteen concerts by Roma Sinfonietta at the University of Rome 'Tor Vergata' in the 2024-2025 season featuring chamber music, symphonic music, jazz, gospel, and opera. Again this year, the Roma Sinfonietta Association is holding its concert season at the University of Rome 'Tor Vergata'. The program prepared by the artistic director Luigi Lanzillotta ranges from symphonic music to electronic, from chamber music to choral music and traditional songs from the Italian regions. There are seventeen events, which will always take place on Wednesdays (with the sole exception of the concert on Thursday, April 10) at 6:00 PM in the 'Ennio Morricone' Auditorium located in the Letters and Philosophy section of the second state university of Rome, on Via Columbia 1. It is one of the most important concert seasons in the capital due to the number of concerts, the interest of the programs, and the quality of the performers, all of whom are Italian—a distinguishing feature of these concerts. They are selected from among the best musicians our country has to offer, so there is no need to resort to foreign musicians. Another remarkable merit of this season is bringing live music to the eastern part of Rome, which is almost completely devoid of it. However, these concerts attract music enthusiasts from all zones of Rome, and a part of the audience even comes from outside Rome, particularly from the Castelli area, which is not far from the concert venue.
The opening concert on October 23 will feature the Roma Sinfonietta Orchestra playing music by Mozart, together with violinist and conductor Giuliano Carmignola, one of the most accredited interpreters of 18th-century music, from Vivaldi and Bach to Mozart. Claudio Abbado even chose him as a soloist in his recording of all Mozart's Violin Concertos. For this rare and precious Roman concert, he has selected two Violin Concertos and a Symphony by Mozart. With the second concert of the season, the complete performance of Shostakovich's String Quartets will resume, which began last year and is entrusted to one of the best Italian chamber groups, the Quartetto Guadagnini: this season, there will be two appointments (November 6 and March 5) with what is considered the most important Quartets cycle of the twentieth century. The most important Quartet cycle in the entire history of music is, however, Beethoven's, which includes seventeen sublime masterpieces: a three-year series of concerts is dedicated to it, with two sessions this year (April 9 and 10) entrusted to the Teatro alla Scala String Quartet.
Therefore, a season full of stimulating and varied offerings, where classical concept concerts alternate with other musical genres, but always featuring music of great value with top-level performers that any enthusiast will surely appreciate.
